SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. – A dump truck collision with an overpass on Interstate 75 caused significant disruption Monday morning after the truck’s raised bed struck the CR-475 overpass.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:20 AM near the 333.5 mile marker of northbound I-75. A 56-year-old Ocala man was driving the dump truck when he inadvertently left the dump bed in a raised position.

As the truck passed under the CR-475 overpass, the raised bed collided with the structure, shearing off and becoming lodged beneath the overpass. The truck itself continued northbound, coming to a final stop just north of the impact point.
