CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. – An SUV traveling northbound on North Jill Avenue failed to negotiate the curve and intersection of West Cave Court early Sunday morning. The vehicle departed the roadway and collided head-on with a tree.
Each of the six occupants, with all but one being unrestrained, suffered varying levels of injuries, including a three-year-old child who suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.
Shelby Gabrielle Collazo, the driver, and mother of the deceased child was later arrested by FHP Troopers for DUI Manslaughter, four counts of child neglect, four counts of DUI Serious Injury, one count of DUI Property Damage, and booked in the Citrus County Jail.
