An intoxicated Florida man was arrested Saturday after resisting arrest following a domestic incident.

Joshua Lee Spencer, 38, of Islamorada, was charged with possession of a firearm while being the subject of a domestic violence injunction, contempt of court, resisting arrest with violence, and DUI with property damage.

According to deputies, the incident began when Spencer arrived at a Tavernier residence intoxicated at approximately 4:10 p.m., violating the terms of his pre-trial release for a previous battery arrest.

The victim stated he left intoxicated in a vehicle and hit a shed while departing. The victim also told the Sheriff’s Office that a firearm Spencer owned was in the residence. A loaded 9mm handgun was recovered.

Spencer was found stopped on the side of U.S. 1 near Mile Marker 96.

He attempted to pull away from Deputies as he was being detained for DUI following field sobriety exercises.

Deputies say he was shocked with a taser as he continued to resist arrest.

Spencer was transported to Mariners Hospital, where he was medically cleared, and then taken to the Monroe County Jail, where is was booked on a $220,000 bond.
