Elon Musk’s political action committee, America PAC, is facing scrutiny from the Department of Justice (DOJ) over its “million-dollar sweepstakes” for registered voters. The DOJ is investigating whether the payments, offered to voters who pledge support for free speech and gun rights, violate federal laws against compensating individuals for registering or voting in federal elections.
America PAC has defended the legality of its initiative, dismissing concerns as a “predictable media meltdown.” The PAC maintains that the cash awards are legal and claims the controversy is only amplifying its message.

The sweepstakes, which offers daily drawings for $1 million prizes until Election Day, targets registered voters in Pennsylvania and six other swing states. Musk stated that the rewards come with no strings attached except for the expectation that winners will promote his petition.
The initiative aims to drive voter registration in key battleground states as part of Musk’s efforts to support the re-election campaign of former President Trump. Musk first announced the daily $1 million giveaway at a Pennsylvania rally on Saturday.
