MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – A 62-year-old man died Monday after losing consciousness following a dive at the popular Spiegel Grove shipwreck off Key Largo.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office received a call at approximately 11:57 a.m. reporting that a diver from a commercial dive boat was being brought ashore and that CPR was in progress.

Richard Eric Unis, whose address was not immediately released, was pronounced dead at Mariners Hospital in Tavernier at approximately 1:38 p.m. Next-of-kin notifications have been made.

Preliminary investigations indicate that foul play is not suspected in the incident.
