Detectives Investigate Shooting Of Man In South Brooksville

 Hernando County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that happened on Sunday in South Brooksville.

BROOKSVILLE, Fla. – Hernando County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that happened on Sunday in South Brooksville.

On Sunday just after 12:30 a.m., Hernando County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the area of Armstrong Street and Ellington Avenue in South Brooksville, in regards to a possible Shooting.

When patrol deputies arrived on the scene, they observed a large gathering of people near the intersection. Moments later, deputies located the victim, an adult male, in a field on the southwest side of the intersection.

The victim, who was suffering from one gunshot wound, was transported to a local trauma center by Hernando County Fire and Emergency Services.

Detectives spoke with several individuals who were in the area at the time of the shooting and were able to gather some leads, including the name of a possible suspect. 

“As always, all leads will be investigated thoroughly,” said HCSO.

Physicians classified the victim’s injuries as non-life threatening. Detectives continue to follow up on leads and physical evidence collected from the scene.
