The media keep dishing it out, and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis refuses to take it.
On Super Bowl Sunday, the media took DeSantis to task after a photo of him sitting maskless in a skybox was posted on social media.
His response: “How the hell am I going to be able to drink a beer with a mask on? Come on. I had to watch the Bucs win.”
That prompted one CNN pundit to sniff that DeSantis was going “against the science,” and he offered the governor instructions on how to remove a mask and “sip” his beer – pinky extended no doubt.
On Wednesday, DeSantis got another chance to revel in the media criticism of his maskless face.
At a press conference in Venice, while discussing COVID-19 vaccines, DeSantis was apparently asked about sitting maskless at the big game.
“The media is worried about that obviously. You guys really love that. You don’t care as much if it’s a ‘peaceful protest.’ Then it’s fine. You don’t care as much if they’re celebrating a Biden election. You only care about it if it’s people that you don’t like,” the governor replied.
He added, “I’m a Bucs fan. I’m damn proud of what they did on Sunday night.”
DeSantis was correct in that the mainstream media slammed the lack of masks at anti-lockdown protests, but were mum as people marched in Black Lives Matter demonstrations and held mass celebrations for Joe Biden’s victory on Nov. 3.
