As Florida Governor Ron DeSantis ramps up efforts to block two major ballot proposals—one on recreational marijuana and another on abortion rights—political committees tied to his campaign brought in about $8.51 million between October 12 and October 26, according to recent state finance reports.
The Keep Florida Clean committee, chaired by DeSantis’ chief of staff, James Uthmeier, pulled in approximately $7.75 million during the two-week period, leaving about $6.92 million in cash on hand. Notable contributions included $4.25 million from the St. Petersburg-based group Save Our Society from Drugs.

Additionally, the Florida Freedom Fund, another Uthmeier-chaired committee, raised nearly $763,000 during the same timeframe and held around $2.25 million in cash reserves.
DeSantis is leading the charge to defeat Amendment 3 and Amendment 4 on the November 5 ballot. Amendment 3 would legalize recreational marijuana use for adults 21 and older, while Amendment 4 aims to ensure access to abortion before fetal viability, allowing exceptions to protect the patient’s health as determined by a healthcare provider.
