Governor Ron DeSantis has announced the allocation of more than $14.5 million through the Florida Job Growth Grant Fund (JGGF) to fuel infrastructure improvements and workforce training initiatives across the state.
The funding aims to bolster key industries, including aviation, aerospace, and manufacturing, with awards distributed to Indian River State College, Miami Dade College, Sebring Airport Authority, and Wakulla County.

“Florida’s Job Growth Grant Fund drives economic development by supporting critical infrastructure projects and expanding workforce training opportunities at the local level,” said Governor DeSantis in a press release.
Secretary of Commerce J. Alex Kelly echoed the Governor’s sentiment, stating, “Governor DeSantis’ commitment and focus on infrastructure and workforce investments, especially in target sectors like manufacturing and aerospace and aviation, continues to support job creation and economic prosperity in Florida. These strategic investments in Indian River, Miami-Dade, Highlands and Wakulla Counties will support economic growth and provide new opportunities for job seekers and job creators in these communities.”
The awarded funds will be utilized for the following projects:
Indian River State College ($4,000,000): This funding will facilitate the development of the Institute for Industrial Manufacturing and Production Training. The institute will offer accelerated technical vocational training designed to meet the growing demands of production and industrial manufacturers within the college’s service area.

Miami Dade College ($4,896,207): Miami Dade College will use the grant to establish two new aircraft mechanic programs. These programs are designed to provide a seamless transition for graduates into maintenance, repair, and operations facilities, minimizing the need for additional training.
Sebring Airport Authority ($2,113,560): The grant will support the reconstruction and resurfacing of Webster Turn Drive. This infrastructure improvement is expected to enhance logistical efficiency in the region, enabling local businesses to optimize the use of the road between the logistics center and the airport.
Wakulla County ($3,500,000): Wakulla County will utilize the funding for the development and construction of two county-owned buildings within Wakulla County’s Opportunity Park. This expansion aims to create new manufacturing opportunities within the region.
