A tragic incident in Ocala, Florida, has resulted in the death of a woman and the arrest of her boyfriend, a Marion County Sheriff’s Deputy, for manslaughter.
On September 19th, Leslie Boileau called 911 to report the incident, stating he had accidentally shot his girlfriend. Officers arrived at the scene in southeast Ocala to find the victim with a fatal gunshot wound to the forehead.

A 9mm handgun was on her lap, and a rifle was also present. Boileau initially claimed the shooting happened while they were handling and dry-firing the weapons.
During questioning, Boileau further explained that he and the victim had been cleaning their firearms after dinner when he accidentally discharged a loaded round from a rifle, resulting in the tragic death. A search warrant executed at Boileau’s residence corroborated his account.
Based on the evidence, Boileau was arrested for manslaughter.

“We are deeply saddened by this tragic incident. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victim’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time,” said Police Chief Mike Balken. “The Ocala Police Department is working with the State Attorney’s Office to ensure justice is served.”
