TAMPA, Fla. – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office de-escalated a suicidal individual overnight, bringing the man to safety.
On Thursday, just after 2:13 a.m., a man called 911 saying he was threatening self-harm on the AdventHealth Tampa parking garage roof.
Sheriff Chad Chronister commends the timely and professional response of HCSO personnel, which led to a safe and successful resolution of the situation.

Sheriff Chronister deployed HCSO’s Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) as the situation developed, prioritizing communication and understanding with the distressed individual. Additionally, HCSO activated the SWAT team as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of all involved parties.
“Our deputies and specialized units demonstrated exemplary professionalism and expertise in handling this critical situation,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “Their quick response and de-escalation training ensured the safety and well-being of the individual involved.”
Through coordinated efforts and effective communication, the Crisis Negotiation Team successfully engaged with the subject, leading to his safe recovery from the rooftop without any injury or incident. At no time was the public in danger during this incident.
