In Florida, deputies never know what they are rushing into, we seem to have it all down here. From barricaded situations, drug busts, machete-wielding maniacs, and fast food fiascos, just to name a few.
On occasion, especially during mating season, deputies get calls about alligators.
Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office had just that.
In a social post, PBSO said, “Not what we expected from a call about assistance with an animal in Victoria Groves. But we got the job done. Ally the Alligator was safely removed and taken to a location in Labelle.”
The American alligator, Florida’s state reptile, is a conservation success story. Florida has a healthy and stable alligator population, which is estimated at 1.3 million alligators of every size.
They are found in freshwater lakes, ponds, swamps, and slow-moving rivers in all 67 counties in Florida.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission says, remember never to feed an alligator and keep your distance if you see one. Swim only in designated swimming areas during daylight hours. And keep pets on a leash and away from the water.
