Two illegal immigrants were arrested in Palm City on Sunday evening for stealing thousands of dollars worth of construction material from new home building sites.
Jaime Mauricio Garcia Baca and Cristian Sebastian Mayorga, both identified with Nicaraguan identification cards, were caught red-handed by Martin County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) deputies after allegedly taking roofing material valued at $3,000.
The suspects were charged with grand theft and burglary of two structures. Neither man had a valid Florida driver’s license.
The MCSO seized the stolen construction material, which will be returned to its rightful owner, and the suspects’ van was impounded.
This incident highlights a growing problem in Florida: theft from construction sites. The MCSO is committed to combating this issue and holding those responsible accountable for their actions.
