A would-be Florida man was arrested and will most likely be deported to his home country after an assault over the weekend.
On Saturday night, Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division Deputies responded to a business at the US-129 and I-10 corridor about a disturbance.
Upon arrival, they learned that Gustavo Miramontes Nunez, 34-years-old, from Mount Dora, Florida, had attempted to forcibly enter a female victim’s vehicle with the intent to harm her.
When a store employee tried to intercede, Gustavo chased him around the parking lot, threatening to kill him.
Gustavo was arrested and transported to the Suwannee County Jail, where he was charged with: Attempted burglary of an occupied conveyance and Assault.
While Gustavo was being processed into the Suwannee County Jail, it was discovered that he was deported from the United States in 2020, returned to Mexico, and is currently listed as a deported felon.
The Department of Homeland Security was contacted, and an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainer was placed on Gustavo.
