A Florida man is behind bars after police find three dead dogs locked in cages and a fourth dog they tried to save.
On Friday, Edgewater Police Department was notified of several deceased animals and a dog in need of emergency medical assistance inside of a residence.
Officers say the residence was in deplorable living conditions.
During a search of the residence (3) dogs were located deceased inside their cages and a small black lab was rescued and provided emergency medical assistance.
“Unfortunately, shortly after receiving fluids and medication, she passed away,” said EPD.
EPD officers quickly identified the homeowner and owner of the dogs, William J. Demchick of Edgewater, Florida.
Demchick was arrested and charged with (4) counts of felony animal cruelty. At the conclusion of the investigation, he was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail.
