Democratic Nevada Sen. Jacky Rosen locked in another term in the state’s Senate seat, beating Republican businessman Sam Brown, the Associated Press projects.

The AP called the results of the Senatorial race at 12:15am EST on Nov. 9, with Rosen at 47.8% of the vote and Brown at 46.4%.

Nevada was considered a key swing state this election cycle, with both President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris hosting respective campaign rallies in the state during the final leg of their campaigning.

Rosen has served as a senator in Nevada since 2019, and was the only Democratic challenger in the U.S. to unseat a Republican incumbent that year, after she previously served as a representative for the state’s 3rd congressional district from 2017 to 2019. Meanwhile, Brown is a Purple Heart recipient and small businessman who formerly served in Afghanistan in 2008.

Nevada ranked as the seventh most expensive Senate race this election cycle at $164,146,058 total spent, according to OpenSecrets data published Oct. 16. Rosen outspent Brown by more than two times at $43,220,992 to Brown’s $17,397,495, according to OpenSecrets.

The Nevada Supreme Court affirmed a lower court’s ruling on Oct. 28 allowing mail-in ballots without postage that arrive up to three days after the election to be counted. Some Nevada voters have expressed concerns of there being a repeat of the 2020 presidential election, when the election results were not reported until days later due to the state’s voting rules.
