Delaware GOP Party Chair Slams Anti-Business Democrats: Companies Fleeing Delaware’s Toxic Environment

Delaware Republican Party Chair Julianne Murray launched a scathing critique of the state’s Democratic leadership today, accusing them of fostering an anti-business environment that is driving companies out of Delaware. Murray’s remarks come amid a growing exodus of major corporations, including Meta, Dropbox, and Tesla, which are relocating to more business-friendly states like Texas.

“Enough is enough! Delaware’s Democratic leaders have turned our state into a corporate nightmare,” Murray declared. “Their anti-business crusade is not only shortsighted but downright destructive. One of the largest companies in America—ironically owned by a well-known liberal—has decided that Delaware’s economic environment is intolerable and is relocating to red Texas. Meta’s move to consider leaving Delaware is just the tip of the iceberg; this is a red alert for all businesses here.”

Delaware, once known as a corporate haven due to its business-friendly legal framework and tax policies, has seen a dramatic shift under Democratic leadership. Murray pointed to overreaching regulations, aggressive litigation, and high taxes as key factors driving businesses away.

“Delaware used to be a place where businesses came to grow—now it’s a place where they come to get sued and smothered by regulations,” Murray said. “The Democrats in power have waged war on success, dragging companies like Meta, Dropbox, and Tesla through the mud with their litigious policies.”

The Cato Institute’s Economic Freedom Index ranks Delaware as the 8th worst state for economic freedom, citing high taxes, government overreach, reckless spending, and burdensome regulations. Murray argued that these policies have created a toxic environment for businesses, stifling innovation and economic growth.

“The Delaware Democrats’ actions amount to economic sabotage,” Murray continued. “We are watching our economic backbone crumble because Democrats can’t distinguish between governance and vengeance. Their policies are not just bad for business—they’re bad for every Delawarean who relies on a strong economy for jobs and opportunity.”

Murray and the Delaware Republican Party are demanding an immediate reversal of what they describe as “destructive policies.” They are calling for a return to pro-business governance that prioritizes job creation, economic freedom, and responsible spending.

“Delaware’s future depends on strong leadership that prioritizes job creation, economic freedom, and responsible governance,” Murray said. “Voters have a clear choice: continue down the path of economic stagnation or support Republican leaders who will make our state competitive again. We will fight tooth and nail to restore Delaware as a true business haven—not the corporate hellscape Democrats have created.”

The departure of major corporations like Meta and Tesla is a significant blow to Delaware’s economy, which has struggled to keep pace with other states. Murray warned that if Democratic leaders continue on their current path, the state risks further economic decline and the loss of even more businesses and jobs.

“This is a wake-up call for Delaware,” Murray said. “We cannot afford to let partisan politics destroy our economy. It’s time for a new approach—one that values businesses, supports workers, and ensures a prosperous future for all Delawareans.”

As the 2026 elections approach, Murray’s message is clear: Delaware voters must hold Democratic leaders accountable for their anti-business policies and elect Republicans who will restore the state’s reputation as a welcoming home for businesses and innovation.
