LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – A fatal crash occurred on State Road 44 when a 2018 Kenworth T880 dump truck collided with a 2021 Ram 1500, killing a 35-year-old DeLand man.
The crash happened at 7:15 am Friday, according to troopers.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, a dump truck, traveling eastbound, swerved to avoid stopped traffic and entered the westbound lane, directly into the path of the oncoming Ram 1500.

The resulting head-on collision caused fatal injuries to the driver of the Ram 1500, a 35-year-old DeLand man who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The dump truck driver, a 23-year-old Deltona man, was transported to Advent Health Waterman Hospital with minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
