WIMAUMA, Fla. (April 12, 2025) – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) is actively investigating a shooting incident that left one man dead and two others injured in Wimauma early Saturday morning.
According to HCSO officials, deputies were dispatched to the 3300 block of Maple Mex Street at approximately 1:57 a.m., after receiving a 911 call reporting shots fired in the area.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered one adult male deceased at the scene. Two other adult male victims were found suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency medical services transported the injured men to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their current conditions have not been released.

Detectives have begun a preliminary investigation and determined that an altercation occurred prior to the shooting incident. The specific circumstances leading up to the altercation and subsequent gunfire are still under investigation.
Sheriff Chad Chronister condemned the violence, stating, “Violence has no place in our neighborhoods. Our team is working tirelessly to find out what happened and ensure those responsible are held accountable for this senseless act of violence.”
HCSO detectives are currently processing the scene, gathering evidence, and seeking witnesses. No information regarding the suspects has been released at this time.
