Deadly Overnight Shooting Rocks Clearwater Apartment Complex

CLEARWATER, Fla. – Clearwater Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred overnight at the Washington Square apartments, leaving one man dead and a woman injured.

The incident unfolded around 2 a.m. this morning at 2 Fernwood Avenue. Police arrived to find two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital, where a 51-year-old man tragically succumbed to his injuries.

His 43-year-old girlfriend, who also sustained gunshot wounds, was treated and released.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the suspect arrived at the apartment and engaged in a confrontation with the woman’s 19-year-old son. The altercation escalated, leading to gunfire that injured both the man and the woman.

Detectives are actively pursuing leads and do not believe this was a random act of violence. They urge anyone with information about the incident or the suspect to contact the Clearwater Police Department at 727-562-4242.
