POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle while crossing US-27 at Sanders Road on Friday at around 8:43 pm.
According to authorities, a 47-year-old Winter Haven man was driving a Nissan Rogue southbound on US-27.
As the vehicle approached the intersection with Sanders Road, it proceeded through a green traffic signal. At that moment, a 41-year-old Davenport man was crossing the highway in the crosswalk but against the pedestrian signal.

The vehicle collided with the pedestrian, who tragically died at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
