POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A dispute over who bought more gas for a shared vehicle escalated into a violent stabbing in the Tierra Del Sol neighborhood of Davenport on Saturday around 7:00 pm.
According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, 36-year-old Maykol Farinas Rodriguez admitted to stabbing his roommate multiple times with a kitchen knife following an argument about fuel contributions for a vehicle they share..
A witness intervened, restraining Rodriguez and rushing the victim to a local hospital, where he remains in stable condition.

Rodriguez initially claimed self-defense but later confessed to the crime. He has been charged with attempted 2nd-degree murder and is currently being held at the Sheriff’s Processing Center.
