Dade City Man Killed When Trying To Pass Vehicle In Grass Median, Collides With Tree

HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – A Dade City man has died after attempting to pass a vehicle using the grass median and losing control of his truck.

Troopers say a Chevy Silverado, driven by a 50-year-old Dade City man, was traveling eastbound in the inside lane of SR-50.

West of Olympia Road, the driver attempted to pass another vehicle by utilizing the center grass median.

The driver lost control, rotated across the travel lanes, struck a fence along the south shoulder, and finally collided with a tree.

The driver, who was not restrained, suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.
