TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa Police officers were dispatched to the Walmart, located at 1505 N. Dale Mabry Highway, for the report of a suspicious package located outside the rear of the store.
Out of an abundance of caution and to allow for the investigation, customers were asked to leave the store while officers determined the nature of the suspicious package.
Tampa Police have determined the suspicious package reported posed no threat to the public.
Police say the package appears to be a normal purchase item that had the labeling removed, leaving just a cardboard package that caused concern.

“This was a positive outcome and a prime example of why we say: See Something, Say Something’,” said Chief Lee Bercaw. “The Tampa Police Department will always respond if a member of our community sees something suspicious. The fact that this employee called us when they saw what they felt was a suspicious package highlights the fact that in Tampa we are safer, together.”
The store has allowed customers to re-enter.
