Crystal River Man Killed In Head-On Collision In Citrus County, Clearwater Man Injured

CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. – A 51-year-old Crystal River man was killed in a head-on collision on County Road 488 Saturday morning.

The accident occurred west of North Rock Avenue around 10:48 a.m. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the man was driving a Ford Focus eastbound on CR-488 when he attempted to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone.

His car collided head-on with a westbound Toyota 4Runner driven by a 94-year-old Clearwater man.

Both drivers were transported to local hospitals. Tragically, the driver of the Ford Focus succumbed to his injuries. The condition of the other driver has not been released.

The crash remains under investigation.
