The investigation into the fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in Manhattan has expanded beyond the city as police pursue a suspect believed to have fled on an interstate bus.
Authorities are meticulously piecing together clues, including a backpack found in Central Park, surveillance footage, DNA evidence, and ammunition inscribed with cryptic messages. While investigators appear to be closing in on the suspect’s identity, they have yet to apprehend him.

The NYPD, in conjunction with the FBI and the Atlanta Police Department, is leading the nationwide manhunt. The suspect, who traveled to New York from Atlanta on a Greyhound bus, is believed to have used a fake New Jersey driver’s license to check into a hostel on the Upper West Side.
The discovery of the backpack in Central Park is the latest development in the investigation. Its contents are being analyzed for forensic evidence. Police are also trying to locate the electric bike used by the suspect and the murder weapon.
Adding to the intrigue are the bullets found at the crime scene, inscribed with the words “depose,” “delay,” and “deny.” These words, commonly associated with insurance industry tactics, are fueling speculation about a possible motive.
