ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.- A fierce fire erupted in the carport of a single-story home on Coquina Key this evening, causing extensive damage and rendering the house uninhabitable.

Despite the blaze’s intensity, crews managed to contain the fire to one outer room and the carport, preventing further damage to the main structure. However, the house suffered significant smoke damage, and the heat from the fire caused minor melting to the exterior siding of a neighboring house.

Thankfully, the residents of the affected home had evacuated before firefighters arrived, and no injuries were reported.

Fire investigators are currently on-site to determine the cause of the blaze. The house remains uninhabitable, and firefighters will continue to monitor the scene to ensure all hotspots are extinguished.
