During the stop, officers detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from Kennedy’s vehicle. Kennedy, the sole occupant, admitted to smoking marijuana and presented a burnt marijuana cigarette as the source of the smell.
A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a mini AK-47 equipped with a loaded 60-round magazine and a loaded Glock handgun with an extended magazine.

Kennedy has a prior conviction for possession of a concealed weapon, making it illegal for him to own or possess firearms under federal and state law. His arrest highlights the ongoing challenges law enforcement faces in keeping illegal weapons off the streets and out of the hands of convicted felons.
Kennedy was taken into custody and transported to jail, where he remains held on multiple firearm-related charges.
