TAMPA, Fla. – A commercial fire in the East Tampa area Monday morning prompted a significant response from Tampa Fire Rescue (TFR) and temporarily shut down a portion of East Broadway Avenue.

Firefighters were dispatched to the 4000 block of E. Broadway Ave. at approximately 10:45 AM following reports of a structure fire. Upon arrival, first responding engines encountered a single-story commercial building with visible smoke and flames emanating from the roof.

According to TFR officials, dense smoke permeated the interior of the building, significantly reducing visibility for firefighters conducting their operations. Due to the size of the commercial structure, a second alarm was activated, bringing additional firefighters and resources to the scene to combat the blaze.

Crews immediately initiated primary and secondary searches of the building to ensure no occupants were trapped inside. Authorities confirmed that the searches yielded negative results, and no civilians were found within the structure.

Firefighters worked diligently to contain the fire, and their efforts proved successful as the blaze was brought under control within 45 minutes of their arrival.

Unfortunately, one firefighter sustained minor injuries during the firefighting operations and was subsequently transported to a local hospital for treatment. No other injuries to civilians were reported at the scene.
