A 26-year-old man, Jorge Meza-Alarcon Jr., faces a first-degree murder charge after allegedly killing a woman he met on Snapchat by using a chokehold.
Authorities were alerted to the unresponsive woman at a residence on Halleluiah Trail in Colorado Springs. Despite paramedics’ efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the arrest affidavit, Meza-Alarcon and the victim, Annabelle Floren-Wyant, had arranged to meet for a financial transaction. A friend of Floren-Wyant’s informed police that she was concerned about Meza-Alarcon and had requested regular check-ins.

Meza-Alarcon claims Floren-Wyant attacked him, and he reacted by putting her in a chokehold. He left the scene without confirming if she was alive, stating he was aware of the dangers of the technique.
The investigation uncovered evidence contradicting Meza-Alarcon’s claims, including his injuries and the state of the victim’s clothing.
Meza-Alarcon admitted to leaving the scene without checking Floren-Wyant’s pulse.
He is currently on a $1 million bind and is scheduled for his initial court hearing on September 6.
