COLD CASE 2013: After 8-Years Misti Whitfield Deserves Justice

TAMPA, FL. – The person(s) responsible for the death of 35-year-old Misti Whitfield, has never been brought to justice, and Misti, her family, and friends deserve this.

On May 2, 2013, at approx. 10:00 p.m., Misti Whitfield was walking alone in the area of W. Hillsborough Avenue and N. Rome Street in Tampa headed toward her home.

Her family and friends reported her as missing after several days of not being able to contact her.

After an exhaustive search for Misti, she was found deceased on October 24, 2014, in a shed near the location that she was last seen. Detectives determined that she had been the victim of a homicide.

“When she was being silly, Misti Whitfield would call her mother, Sharon Ardelean, Mommy. When she was sad, it was Momma, and when she was trying to get her attention, it was Sharon,” said Oliva, a friend of Misti.

“But mostly, Whitfield referred to her mother as Moms, because she represented both a mother and father figure in her life,” said Oliva.

Misti’s birthday is July 7, and Misti’s mom Sharon C Ardelean, posted this message to her daughter last week, “Happy birthday In heaven my sweet girl. I miss you every second of every day. You so loved your birthday so I’m gonna try and stay upbeat today I will love you and remember you till my last breath. Love your mama.”

Friends and family post to Misti’s page and keep her memory alive each day.

On May 2, 2021, the eight-year anniversary of the day Misti went missing, Rachel Caruso said, “I will never ever forget you Misti! We went through so much together. I just wish we could have done life again together…differently and longer. I still wish I would have been a better person…better friend… back then. God, please bring closure to her family and all of the people who love her. It’s been 8 whole years today…trust You God.”
