HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – Nearly seventeen years have passed since the lifeless body of 19-year-old Dominique Lewis was discovered in a wooded area near Brooksville Rock Road, yet her tragic death remains shrouded in mystery.
The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office continues to actively investigate the case, but no arrests have been made, leaving Lewis’s family and friends desperate for answers.
Lewis, a promising student at the Ultimate Medical Academy in Clearwater, was found on December 11, 2007, shortly after Thanksgiving. Her life was cut short in a senseless act of violence, leaving her loved ones devastated and the community in shock.

The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office has pursued numerous leads over the years, but the case has proven challenging to crack. Detectives have tirelessly interviewed potential witnesses, examined evidence, and explored various theories, but the circumstances surrounding Lewis’s death remain elusive.pen_spark
“We haven’t forgotten about Dominique,” stated Sheriff Al Nienhuis in a past press conference. “Our detectives are committed to bringing justice to her family and holding her killer accountable. We urge anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to come forward.”
Lewis’s family has endured unimaginable pain and suffering throughout the years, holding onto hope that one day their daughter’s killer will be identified and brought to justice. They have actively participated in public appeals for information and remain steadfast in their pursuit of closure.
