Javier Velasquez, Jr., a 38-year-old resident of Clewiston, Florida, has been sentenced to 8 years and 10 months in federal prison for a series of serious crimes, including cocaine distribution, illegal possession of firearms (including a machine gun), and carrying firearms during drug trafficking activities.
The court also ordered the forfeiture of the firearms involved in the crimes.

Court documents reveal that Velasquez sold cocaine, multiple firearms, and a Glock switch (a device that converts a semi-automatic weapon into a machine gun) to an undercover federal agent between July and September 2023.
Being a convicted felon, Velasquez was prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition.

This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Mark Morgan. It’s part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence through community collaboration and strategic enforcement.
