Clearwater Woman Arrested After Attempted Shooting

CLEARWATER, Fla. – A Clearwater woman is facing multiple charges after a frightening incident involving a firearm.

Kelley Karabinos, 36, was arrested early Saturday morning following a dispute at a smoke shop on Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard. After being escorted out of the store by a security guard, Karabinos retrieved a gun from her car and pointed it at the guard, attempting to fire multiple times.

The weapon malfunctioned, but Karabinos continued to threaten the guard as she re-entered her vehicle. She then fled the scene but later returned and was identified by the victim.

Following a brief pursuit, Karabinos was apprehended and charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during a felony, DUI, fleeing and eluding, and introduction of contraband into a detention facility after authorities discovered three bullets concealed in her bra.
