Clearwater earned the prestigious title of Coast Guard City in 2012, a distinction held by only 34 cities across the United States as of 2024. This recognition highlights the city’s strong ties with the U.S. Coast Guard, as it is home to Coast Guard Station Sand Key and Air Station Clearwater, the largest and busiest Coast Guard air station in the nation. Additionally, Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 11-1, which provides vital support to local Coast Guard operations, is also based in Clearwater.
The Fun Run 5K is designed to bring together local Coast Guard personnel and community members for a morning of healthy activity and camaraderie.
Participants can find more information about the event on the City of Clearwater’s website at MyClearwaterParks.com.
