CLEARWATER, Fla. – Clearwater Police are investigating a crash involving a 19-year-old bicyclist.
According to investigators, Clearwater Police and Clearwater Fire & Rescue responded to a crash with serious injuries Wednesday evening.
The crash occurred at 6:40 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard just east of Belcher Road. A bicyclist crossing from north to south was struck by a 2004 Toyota Corolla.

The bicyclist was not in a crosswalk or crossing at an intersection. The driver remained on scene and cooperated with investigators.
19-year-old Carlos Jimenez Velasquez of Clearwater was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, where he is in critical condition.
Eastbound lanes of Gulf-to-Bay were shut down for a couple of hours as the investigation was conducted.
