CLEARWATER, Fla. – A heartwarming rescue unfolded this morning in the 2600 block of Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard, as Clearwater Police officers and Fire & Rescue personnel teamed up to save a group of ducklings trapped in a storm drain.
Passersby noticed a distressed mother duck pacing near the storm drain, signaling something was amiss. Upon closer inspection, they discovered seven ducklings stuck inside.
Concerned citizens alerted authorities, and officers quickly arrived on the scene.

With the help of Clearwater Fire & Rescue, who expertly opened the storm drain grate, officers carefully retrieved the tiny ducklings one by one.
“The worried mother paced about as Clearwater Fire & Rescue personnel opened the grate so officers could assist in getting them out,” said the Clearwater Police Department in a social post.
All seven ducklings were successfully rescued from the drain and relocated to a nearby pond, where they were reunited with their relieved mother. The heartwarming scene attracted a small crowd of onlookers, who cheered and applauded the rescuers’ efforts.
