Clearwater Pair Plead Guilty In Tampa To Firearms Charges

CLEARWATER, Fla. – Two Clearwater men, Robert Pugh, 33, and Leon Williams, 35, have pleaded guilty to federal charges related to firearm possession by convicted felons. Pugh admitted to possessing a firearm or ammunition, while Williams confessed to possessing ammunition.

Both men are barred from possessing firearms or ammunition due to their prior felony convictions. Pugh has a history of multiple felonies, including aggravated battery and drug offenses, while Williams has multiple convictions for selling cocaine.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) and the Clearwater Police Department jointly investigated the case. Assistant United States Attorney Jeff Chang is prosecuting it.

Pugh faces a maximum penalty of 15 years in federal prison, while Williams faces a mandatory minimum of 15 years and a maximum of life imprisonment under the Armed Career Criminal Act.

The sentencing dates for Pugh and Williams have not yet been announced.
