Clearwater Names Alfred G. Battle Jr. As New Assistant City Manager

CLEARWATER, Fla. – The city of Clearwater has announced the selection of Alfred G. Battle Jr. as its next assistant city manager. Battle is set to join the city team on May 5th and will be responsible for overseeing several key departments.

Battle’s portfolio will include the departments of economic development and housing, the community redevelopment agency, planning and development, and the library.

He brings nearly 30 years of experience in local government to the role. Most recently, Battle served as Fort Lauderdale’s acting director of the development services department, where he managed a team of over 285 employees. His career also includes prior employment with the cities of Jacksonville and Fort Lauderdale.

Battle holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Florida Atlantic University and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of North Florida. He is also a Certified Economic Development Finance Professional and Housing Development Finance Professional from the National Development Council.  

In addition to his academic credentials, Battle is a graduate of the Executive Leadership Institute of the National Forum of Black Public Administrators and serves on the Board of Directors for the Health Foundation of South Florida. He also holds memberships with the Urban Land Institute and the International Council of Shopping Centers.

The city of Clearwater has expressed its enthusiasm for Battle joining its executive leadership team.
