Clearwater High School Teen Dies After Crash With Vehicle While Riding Bike

CLEARWATER, Fla. – A 16-year-old bicyclist has died from injuries sustained in a crash with a vehicle in Clearwater on Friday morning. The Clearwater Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident, which occurred at the intersection of Keene Road and Cleveland Street around 6:38 a.m.

The bicyclist, a student at Clearwater High School, was transported to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital with critical injuries. Sadly, he passed away at the hospital earlier today.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the bicyclist was riding east across Keene Road in the crosswalk but against a red light. The vehicle that struck him was traveling southbound on Keene Road with a green light.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the crash remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
