Clearwater Fire & Rescue Teams With Union To Help Children In The Hospital During The Holidays

CLEARWATER, FL. – Clearwater Fire & Rescue Department crew members are partnering with the Clearwater Fire Fighters Association, Local 1158, to help brighten the holidays for some local children.

Firefighters and union representatives will be collecting toys and other gifts on Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Walmart located at 23106 U.S. 19 N.

Shoppers can drop off unwrapped gifts at that time or donate money for firefighters to do the shopping.

“Anything we can do to brighten the lives of children and bring a smile to their face is well worth the effort,” said Fire Chief Scott Ehlers. “We are happy to partner with the union in this annual event.”

The gifts will be delivered by Santa Claus, who moonlights as a Clearwater firefighter, at Mease Countryside Hospital sometime before Christmas.
