LARGO, Fla. – SPCA Tampa Bay is making it easier than ever to give a loving home to a pet in need. From November 15th to 17th, adoption fees are waived for all cats and dogs as part of the Bissell Pet Foundation’s “Empty the Shelters” event.

This special adoption event aims to find homes for the influx of animals that arrived at the shelter following Hurricanes Helene and Milton. With over 160 animals currently in their care, including cats, dogs, and even a variety of other creatures like lizards, hamsters, birds, and rabbits, there’s a perfect companion waiting for everyone.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Adoption fees are waived: This applies to all cats and dogs (some exclusions may apply).
  • First come, first served: Adoptions are processed in the order they are received.
  • All animals are ready to go home: Every animal is vaccinated, spayed/neutered, and microchipped.

Important Notes:

  • Meet and greets: If you have children or other pets, please arrange for them to meet your potential new family member at the shelter.
  • Dog introductions: If you’re bringing your dog to meet a potential canine companion, please ensure you have two adults in your party to handle both dogs. Only one dog introduction is allowed per party.
  • Come prepared: Bring a leash, collar, or carrier for your new pet. These items can also be purchased at the SPCA Tampa Bay gift shop.
