City Of St. Petersburg Urges Residents To Prepare For 2024 Hurricane Season

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The City of St. Petersburg is urging residents to begin preparation for the 2024 hurricane season which runs from June 1 to November 30.

The following opportunities are available:

  • Purchase Supplies During Tax-Free Holiday:
  • St. Pete residents are encouraged to stock up on hurricane essentials during the 14-day Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax holiday from June 1-14, and August 24 – September 6.

Examples of tax-free items could include:

  • Flashlights and lanterns
  • Radios
  • Coolers and portable power banks
  • Batteries and fuel tanks
  • Generators

Fill Your Sandbags Proactively:

Did you know the City offers free sandbags year round? Visit the Pavement and Traffic Operations Building, 1744 9th Ave. N, during City business hours, Mon-Fri to get up to 10 free pre-filled sandbags, per household. This location will close during a declared emergency. More information at www.stpete.org/sandbags.
