BRADENTON, Fla. – The Bradenton Fire Department is better equipped for on-scene safety thanks to a grant from Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation. The $2,648.10 grant was used to purchase 70 firefighter identification fobs, fulfilling a critical need for improved on-scene personnel accountability.
“We are committed to helping organizations such as the Bradenton Fire Department continue their lifesaving work within local communities. We are honored to be able to award this grant and do our part to ensure that Bradenton is safer for everyone, including first responders,” said Robin Peters, executive director, Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.
According to Bradenton Fire Chief Chuck Edwards, the identification fobs allow for a more accurate and efficient firefighter accountability system. And that efficiency translates to more focus on incident operations in the delivery of service to the community. “The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation’s award is greatly appreciated,” said Chief Edwards, “and this award success is thanks to the efforts of department personnel who contributed to the grant request, and the support of our local operating owner, Kaite Fountain.”
The grant was one of 96 Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation awarded to public safety organizations across the country during the most recent grant application period. The 96 grants total more than $1.8 million.
“We are so thankful for the support of The Public Safety Foundation and our guests that help us raise money for our first responders. The ability to help our community is the most rewarding part of being in the Firehouse Subs family. We are honored to present the City of Bradenton Fire Department with this lifesaving equipment.” said Kaite Fountain, operating owner of Firehouse Subs in Bradenton.
Ms. Fountain will officially present the grant-awarded equipment to department representatives at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 23, at Bradenton Fire Department Station 1 (1010 9th Avenue West, Bradenton).
