CITRUS COUNTY, FL. – On April 18, 2021, the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) was contacted in reference to a past sexual relationship between the adult suspect, Kristin Jarvis, and the victim who was 17 years of age at the time.
Detective Jonathan Richey with the Citrus County Sheriff’s Special Victim’s Unit (SVU) immediately began an investigation based on the allegations.
The victim told Detective Richey that the sexual activity with Jarvis had taken place multiple times at various locations within Citrus County.
These acts occurred between August 2018 and January 2019 while the victim attended the Citrus County Renaissance Center. During that time, Jarvis was employed by Silver River Mentoring and Instruction (SRMI) as a para-professional. SRMI is a private company that operates the Renaissance Center located in Lecanto.
Detective Richey worked diligently to obtain evidence that supported the victim’s allegations. Once all evidence was collected, an arrest warrant was issued for Jarvis on October 27, 2021.
“Unfortunately Jarvis used the trust placed in her because of her position to prey upon a vulnerable juvenile,” said Sheriff Mike Prendergast. “The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office will continue to do everything in our power to take predators like Jarvis off the streets. By working with our partners at the State Attorney’s Office, we will hopefully help the victim find peace, and give the citizens a sense of safety”.
On October 29, 2021 members of the CCSO Tactical Impact Unit and the Florida/Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force – United States Marshals Service made contact with Jarvis and placed her under arrest.
She is being held without bond at the Citrus County Jail with charges of Sexual Battery by an Authority Figure, Sexual Battery by a Custodial Authority, Human Trafficking, Travelling to Meet a Minor, Child Neglect, and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor.
