CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. – After 24 years of dedicated service to Citrus County, Lieutenant Terry Corbin is retiring from the Sheriff’s Office.

Corbin began his career as a Deputy Sheriff in 2000 and steadily rose through the ranks, serving in a variety of roles, including Patrol Corporal, Field Training Officer, Detective, Sergeant, and ultimately Patrol Watch Commander (Lieutenant).

Corbin’s career was marked by his commitment to community safety and his passion for motorcycle safety. He spent many years in the Traffic and Motor Unit, educating the public and even competing in police motorcycle competitions throughout the Southeast.

“You could tell how much Lieutenant Terry Corbin enjoyed his job – especially within our Traffic and Motor Unit, where he dedicated many years of service. Not only was he instrumental in preventing accidents along our roadways through his patrols, but he also spent time educating people on motorcycle safety,” said Sheriff Mike Prendergast. “His exceptional attitude, kindness, and shining commitment to his duties will no doubt leave a lasting impression on everyone who had the opportunity to work with or meet him.”

Beyond his patrol duties, Corbin was an active member of several specialty teams, including the Honor Guard, the Underwater Recovery Team, and the Crisis Negotiation Team. His dedication to these roles showcased his commitment to serving and protecting the community in diverse ways.

Throughout his career, Corbin received numerous accolades, including Certificates of Commendation, Unit Citations, and letters of appreciation from community members. He was known for his willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty, exemplifying selflessness and compassion.
