Citrus County Sheriff Update: Two Arrested In Homosassa Shooting Incident

CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. – The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) has arrested two suspects in connection with the December 19th shooting of 44-year-old Aaron Michael Kyle, who succumbed to his injuries at the hospital following the incident on South Scarlet Oak Terrace.

The CCSO received a call reporting a shooting involving multiple individuals. The caller provided detailed information about the suspects and the vehicle involved.

Upon arrival, deputies quickly determined the complexity of the case, involving several suspects and witnesses.

CCSO detectives, crime scene specialists, and the Tactical Impact Unit (TIU) immediately launched a full-scale investigation to identify and apprehend those responsible.

Within 24 hours of the shooting, investigators identified and arrested 34-year-old Shawn Michael Hutton, also known as “Bam,” a convicted felon. His arrest was facilitated by an arrest warrant obtained after evidence linked him to the crime.

Detectives later located the suspect vehicle and established probable cause to secure an arrest warrant for a second suspect, 34-year-old Andrew Douglas Gore, who was subsequently taken into custody.

Both suspects face the following charges:

  • Murder While Engaged in Home Invasion Robbery
  • Home Invasion with a Firearm or Another Deadly Weapon
  • Kidnapping with Intent to Commit/Commission Any Felony

Sheriff Mike Prendergast praised the diligence and strategic approach of the investigative team, stating, “This case presented significant challenges, but our detectives worked tirelessly to ensure justice. By withholding certain details early on, we were able to secure the immediate arrests of both suspects involved.”

Captain Novy of the Criminal Investigations Division added, “We understand the public’s curiosity about this case and appreciate their patience. Our priority is building the strongest case possible to provide justice for the victim’s family.”
