CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. – Citrus County School District is pleased to announce that all students will continue to receive free breakfast and lunch throughout the 2024-2025 school year. This initiative, made possible through the USDA’s Community Eligibility Program (CEP), aims to ensure that all children have access to nutritious meals at school.
Now in its third year, the program has been a resounding success, with over 857,000 free breakfasts and 1.7 million free lunches served during the 2023-2024 school year. This equates to nearly 5,000 breakfasts and almost 10,000 lunches served to students daily.

“We understand the importance of providing our students with healthy meals without burdening our families financially,” stated a representative from the Citrus County School District. “There are no forms to fill out, no financial requirements; all students are eligible.”
In addition to free breakfast and lunch, the district will also offer a “Super Snack” program. Students participating in qualified after-school activities will receive a nutritious snack to fuel their endeavors.
This comprehensive approach to student nutrition aims to foster a healthy learning environment and remove potential barriers to academic success.
