CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. – 63-year-old Frank Meyer was sentenced Friday to 20 years in prison by the Florida Department of Corrections for his DUI Manslaughter conviction. The crash tragically claimed the life of 35-year-old Jennifer Bossert.
In May, a jury found Meyer guilty on all charges stemming from the incident, including DUI Manslaughter, DUI with Serious Bodily Injury, and DUI with Property Damage.
“This sentence delivers justice, but no amount of time can ever bring Jennifer back,” said Bill Gladson, Fifth Judicial Circuit State Attorney. “The devastation caused by driving under the influence is undeniable, and there is simply no excuse.”

The Crash
On June 11th, 2022, shortly before 11 PM, Florida Highway Patrol responded to a motor vehicle accident on South Florida Avenue in Floral City. Investigators determined that Meyer’s Hyundai turned left in front of the motorcycle Jennifer Bossert was riding, failing to yield the right of way. Both Jennifer and her husband, the motorcycle driver, were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
A witness reported that the motorcycle, part of a group leaving a Checkers in Inverness, was struck by Meyer’s vehicle as it turned directly into their path. The impact ejected both Jennifer and her husband.

Investigation and Arrest
During the investigation, Meyer told officers he was turning into a liquor store parking lot to buy cigarettes. Officers observed signs of impairment and determined he was under the influence. He admitted to drinking beer earlier at the VFW and failed field sobriety tests. A breathalyzer confirmed his BAC at 0.27, exceeding the legal limit. Meyer was subsequently arrested for DUI.
Jennifer Bossert succumbed to her injuries on June 13th, 2022, at Ocala Regional Medical Center. As a result, Meyer faced additional charges of DUI Manslaughter and DUI with Serious Bodily Injury for his passenger’s injuries.
Assistant State Attorneys Blake Shore and Kevin Davis successfully prosecuted the case.
