FORT MYERS, Fla. – Latrel Jackson, also known as “Kobe,” has been sentenced to life in federal prison for his role in a 2019 murder-for-hire plot in Fort Myers. His co-defendant, Marvin Harris, Jr., received a 45-year sentence earlier this year.

According to court documents, Harris, Jr. hired Jackson and an accomplice to travel from Chicago to Fort Myers to carry out a revenge killing in exchange for $10,000. Harris, Jr. sought to retaliate against members of the “Bucktown” gang, whom he believed were responsible for a robbery at a drug house.

Jackson and his accomplice flew to Fort Myers in October 2019, where Harris, Jr. provided them with a partial payment, firearms, and a place to stay. After several days of searching for their targets, they located and fatally shot a Bucktown member, K.U., outside his home.

Harris, Jr. then paid the remaining balance, and Jackson and his accomplice returned to Chicago with the murder weapons.

Law enforcement later recovered the firearms from Jackson’s home, and ballistic testing confirmed their connection to the crime scene.
